The Michelago Region is the gateway to the Monaro Valley, which stretches from the south of Canberra to the Victorian Border, alongside the magnificent Snowy Mountains to the west and the coastal escarpment to the east.
It is an area of amazing history, spectacular scenery, national parks and reserves, the headwaters of the mighty Murrumbidgee River, great food growing, and warm friendly people – even on the coldest and foggiest of days!
Come and visit us, stay with us, perhaps even live with us, and enjoy what this beautiful part of the world has to offer.
The bridge is open!!!
At long last the two halves of Michelago have been united. The bridge across Michelago Creek quietly opened to traffic last week, connecting Micalago Road to the village.
Please obey the speed limit of 50kph as the bridge and adjoining road will be shared by pedestrians and children riding their bikes to school.
The community owes a debt of gratitude to former Councillor John Rooney and current Councillor Tanya Higgins. They got this project on the agenda, then pushed it through Council, overcoming bureaucratic hurdles all the way along.
