Michelago and District Landcare Group

Join the Michelago and District Landcare Group and save the world.

Not quite but we do our bit and have a bit of fun on the way. The main activities of the Group are tree planting, riparian zone restoration, invasive willow removal and weed control. We also end up with a barbecue after each working bee where we catch up with local events (aka gossip) and generally enjoy ourselves.

We have a broad range of skills in the Group and connections with many other natural resource management (NRM) organisations in the catchment.

The Michelago and District Landcare Group was successful in obtaining a Community Action Grant through the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country initiative.

The Group has received $20,000 to remove invasive willows from a 5 km stretch of the upper Murrumbidgee River and to plant native trees and shrubs along the riparian zone. A contractor has been employed and the work is nearing completion. This project complements willow control that has been done by the Group on Michelago and Ryries Creeks, and also control work done by other groups upstream and downstream of Michelago.
