The Michelago and District Landcare Group was successful in obtaining a Community Action Grant through the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country initiative.

The Group has received $20,000 to remove invasive willows from a 5 km stretch of the upper Murrumbidgee River and to plant native trees and shrubs along the riparian zone. A contractor has been employed and the work is nearing completion. This project complements willow control that has been done by the Group on Michelago and Ryries Creeks, and also control work done by other groups upstream and downstream of Michelago.
